ChatGPT replaces content writer's job, forces man to become AC technician and plumber

ChatGPT: A 34-year-old writer revealed that all of his clients replaced him with this generative AI service after they learned that he used it to write the content. He now plans to be an AC technician and a plumber in the future.
By Ankita Garg: It seems that content writers are having a tough time because stories of people losing their jobs have started appearing. A woman recently lost her job as a copywriter for a tech startup because of ChatGPT and she decided to become a dog walker. Now, 34-year-old Eric Fein told Washington Post that ChatGPT replaced him too and that he is now not earning enough to feed his family.
The content writer says OpenAI’s ChatGPT wiped out his business and that he now plans to change the field. He revealed that all of his clients replaced him with the AI service after they learned that he used to write his content using ChatGPT and so, the clients thought, why waste money on him when they could get their work done using the generative AI service?
He first lost a client in March and then nine more contracts were canceled later for the same reason. The content writer used to charge $60 (around Rs 4,900) for an hour of work including writing short blurbs for company websites and product descriptions. Later, one of the clients did hire him again because the content of ChatGPT was not as good. But, the sad part is, the writer is not getting paid sufficiently for the job he is doing because the client feels that he is using the AI service to get his work done.
The man asserted that earlier, half of his annual income that he was earning before is gone almost overnight because of ChatGPT. Hence, he feels the content writing field is not as promising and so, he is currently taking training as a heating and air conditioning technician. He also plans to become a plumber in the future.
Fein told the cited source that he should have chosen trade work earlier because he feels this is more future-proof. It is being said that trade work is one of the “industries least affected by advances in artificial intelligence.”
All this is not new because ever since ChatGPT became popular for its skills, there have been about concerns generative AI will lead to widespread unemployment. This is something that is now pretty evident. The AI technology is still in its initial stage and it is said to replace thousands of human jobs in the future if it becomes capable of doing more work, apart from just creating/writing content as well as generating photos.
