Earthquake of magnitude 6.1 jolts Japan

By India Today World Desk: An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 jolted Japan on Friday. The earthquake occurred 107 km east-southeast of Tokyo, Japan, at around 3.33 pm.

The depth of the earthquake was 65 km, according to the National Center for Seismology.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:6.1, Occurred on 26-05-2023, 15:33:25 IST, Lat: 35.42 & Long: 140.80, Depth: 65 Km ,Location: 107km ESE of Tokyo,” NCS tweeted.

There was no tsunami warning, according to public broadcaster NHK.

Japan, one of the world’s most seismically active areas, sees frequent earthquakes. The nation accounts for about one-fifth of the world’s earthquakes of magnitude 6 or above.
