Grandma Surprises Granddaughter By Knitting Her A Christmas Sweater Based On Her Drawing

Every year, Christmas jumpers become more of a festive phenomenon and even have parties dedicated solely to them. In fact, the “Ugly Christmas Jumpers” tradition started with ’50s TV ads and in a few decades, it was already laughed at in comedy shows. But ugly jumpers or not, people find themselves owning one or two wholesome tops with merry seasonal decorations, reindeers, Santas and snowflakes. But this grandma in the UK has taken it to a completely new level as she has joined festive forces with her granddaughter to create an enchanting Christmas snug.

It all started with Julie Cordiner, a proud grandma from the UK, who discovered a design made by her little granddaughter. Set as a homework task to celebrate “Christmas Jumper Day” at school to help raise money for Save The Children Charity, it asked to design your own Christmas jumper.

Ever had your kid get homework that required them to design a sweater?

This grandma has, and she one-upped the whole thing by actually knitting it!

Julie got the idea to knit the actual design for her granddaughter’s Christmas present and shared it on Twitter: “My granddaughter had homework to design a Christmas jumper, so I decided to create it.” As she happened to be an experienced knitter, she made it just in time for the actual Christmas Jumper Day at school.

The granddaughter was all smiles posing in her new festive clothing item in front of the Christmas tree, and that was the actual photo that Julie, as any proud grandma would have done, uploaded on Twitter: “The look on her face when she opened it was priceless! Merry Christmas, everyone.”

Needless to say, both the young lady here and the internet were super happy about it

The jolly sweater turned out to be a spitting image of the actual design made by the granddaughter. It has a Christmas tree decorated in colorful baubles and a shining star, with presents underneath and a joyous Santa clearly doing a good job delivering presents under a decorated tree all surrounded with dancing snowflakes.

Grandma Julie was more than chuffed with the numerous comments and 110k likes on Twitter flooding her way to celebrate the thoughtful gift. It didn’t take time for her photo to go viral, with users calling the Christmas jumper “brilliant,” “amazing,” “beautiful,” and “adorable.”

The thread also oozed with similar stories of dedicated grandmas expressing their love for the grandchildren by knitting, crocheting and sewing the most unimaginable items such as the Avengers’ Infinity Gauntlet, a crab with googly eyes, or a mermaid tail blanket, to mention only a few.

The Twitter thread soon exploded with grandmas sharing their handicrafts created for their grandchildren
