Imbibitor Lunae is a highly anticipated character in Honkai: Star Rail that joins the playable character roster in version 1.3, who was previously introduced to players in the Trailblazer Story of previous versions. Additionally, players have the chance to experience part of his gameplay and receive assistance from an NPC variant of this character during the Divine Seed Echoes of War weekly boss. However, one of the most unique aspects of Imbibitor Lunae is that he essentially represents a new form of Dan Heng, opening up future possibilities for other characters to acquire new forms.
As Imbibitor Lunae is the first primarily DPS-oriented Imaginary character in Honkai: Star Rail, players interested in dealing high Imaginary DMG should consider equipping the best available light cones to maximize his potential, among other things. Fortunately, there are various accessible options for players, including viable F2P choices.

Increases DMG dealt by the wearer by 40%. The wearer also deals an extra 40% of DMG to enemies with a higher HP percentage than the wearer.
While A Secret Vow may not provide the same level of consistency on Imbibitor Lunae as it does on other Destruction characters like Arlan or Blade, it remains a great option, especially for content where powerful boss enemies consistently deal high damage to Imbibitor Lunae. However, to maximize the potential of this light cone, it is advisable for players to consider maxing out its superimposition.
This way, even the unconditional DMG increase can enable Imbibitor Lunae to deal significant damage. For those interested in using this light cone, it is recommended to pair Imbibitor Lunae with shielding characters rather than healers who continuously heal characters. This approach allows players to benefit more frequently from the secondary effect without feeling pressed for healing.

Increases the wearer’s ATK by 24%. When the wearer defeats an enemy or is hit, immediately restores HP equal to 8% of the wearer’s ATK. At the same time, the wearer’s damage increases by 24% until the end of their next turn. This effect cannot stack and can only trigger 1 time per turn.
Something Irreplaceable can be a good choice for players aiming to provide some self-healing for Imbibitor Lunae users. However, there are significantly better options available for this character to select from. Nonetheless, considering the unconditional ATK increase, which Imbibitor Lunae scales with, combined with the conditional damage increase secondary effect, it presents itself as a suitable option for those who already have access to this light cone.
Nevertheless, it is recommended that players should not specifically aim to obtain this light cone for Imbibitor Lunae, as there are other 5-star and 4-star options that can work on him with similar potential while requiring fewer resources.

Increases the wearer’s ATK by 32%. When the wearer defeats an enemy, the wearer’s CRIT Rate increases by 24% for 3 turns.
Under The Blue Sky stands out as the best 4-star light cone choice for Imbibitor Lunae, given the significant benefits from both its effects. Not only does he gain a substantial boost in additional ATK, but Imbibitor Lunae can also capitalize on a remarkable increase in Crit Rate which is especially noticeable in content featuring weaker enemies. This attribute holds particular significance within his build, as it amplifies the effectiveness of his optimal Planar Ornament, “Rutilant Arena,” which demands a 70% Crit Rate threshold to provide additional buffs for his Basic Attacks.
Consequently, with this light cone in hand, players can easily focus on other stats within their build. Due to the combined advantages it offers, Under The Blue Sky, particularly when fully superimposed, even presents itself as a more viable option than The Unreachable Side, Blade’s signature light cone, for Imbibitor Lunae, despite its lower rarity.

Whenever the wearer attacks, their ATK is increased by 16% in this battle. This effect can stack up to 4 times. When the wearer inflicts Weakness Break on enemies, the wearer’s DMG increases by 24% for 2 turns.
On the Fall of an Aeon, an entirely F2P option available through Herta’s Store once enough Herta Bonds are collected, ranks among the best choices for Imbibitor Lunae. Not only can it accumulate an impressive 64% ATK bonus when fully stacked, but it also enables Imbibitor Lunae to inflict more damage when used to break the enemies’ toughness. Consequently, this light cone shines brightest against foes with an Imaginary weakness, but it remains a formidable option even without such an advantage.
Furthermore, it’s worth noting that thanks to this light cone, players can prioritize other stats like Speed for relic boots, which would otherwise be lacking in his stat distribution, despite being highly beneficial.

Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 18%. When the wearer uses their Basic ATK, they will gain 1 stack of Dragon’s Call for 2 turns. Each stack of Dragon’s Call increases the wearer’s ATK by 18% and Energy Regeneration Rate by 6%. Dragon’s Call can be stacked up to 2 times.
Brighter Than the Sun stands as Imbibitor Lunae’s signature light cone and, unsurprisingly, is also his top choice. Much like Under The Blue Sky and even The Unreachable Side, this light cone offers a substantial increase in Crit Rate. Moreover, players can reap the benefits of an additional ATK percentage, on par with the max superimposition of Under The Blue Sky, alongside enhanced Energy Regeneration Rate, which aids in utilizing Imbibitor Lunae’s Ultimate as frequently as possible.
It’s worth noting, however, that “Brighter Than the Sun” is not an absolute necessity for Imbibitor Lunae if players have access to the previously mentioned light cones. Nevertheless, it can be an excellent option for those seeking an all-around light cone choice for their other Destruction characters that also rely on ATK and Crit Rate scaling.
Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
