Imbibitor Lunae is a highly anticipated character, and many players are eagerly awaiting the chance to add him to their team compositions. Introduced as a new iteration of the 4-star Wind Hunt character, Dan Heng, Imbibitor Lunae offers a significantly distinct playstyle compared to his F2P counterpart, as he belongs to the Destruction and Imaginary character category. Consequently, fans of this character in Honkai: Star Rail can now explore new character combinations to unlock Imbibitor Lunae’s full potential.
Since Imbibitor Lunae’s effectiveness is closely tied to ATK scaling, players will find Harmony characters highly valuable as partners. This differs from previously released Destruction character Blade, who relies on HP scaling and cannot benefit as much from ATK buffs. Additionally, Imbibitor Lunae can synergize well with many Nihility, Preservation, and Abundance characters, similar to most other DPS characters. However, it’s important to note that Imbibitor Lunae’s playstyle greatly benefits from allocating up to three skill points to enhance his Basic Attacks. In this setup, both Asta and Yukong can be deployed to enhance the team’s ATK values. Conversely, Yukong can provide valuable Crit Rate and Crit Damage buffs to team members, significantly bolstering Imbibitor Lunae’s damage output in particular. 4 Imbibitor Lunae + Tingyun + Pela + Lynx

In this scenario, Tingyun assumes the role of assisting Imbibitor Lunae by providing an ATK buff and additional energy for his Ultimate, which he would otherwise lack, especially without using his signature light cone. Pela, on the other hand, plays a crucial part as the team’s primary debuffer, reducing the opponent’s DEF values.
For players who are eagerly awaiting upcoming characters in the next patch, they may opt to reserve the healer spot for Lynx. Lynx can not only dispel debuffs from all allies but also provides additional synergy with Destruction and Preservation characters. Consequently, for players planning to equip Imbibitor Lunae with a light cone that benefits from his increasing attack, Lynx emerges as a formidable option worth considering. Furthermore, this team composition generally is fit for a large variety of content, considering that every character is from a different element, allowing for weakness-break possibilities for nearly every enemy.
3 Imbibitor Lunae + Bronya + Pela + Fu Xuan
Bronya, another character who typically depends on skill points, can still derive benefits from pairing with Imbibitor Lunae, particularly for those who have access to her signature light cone, “But The Battle Isn’t Over.” This synergy works because both Pela and Fu Xuan are not highly reliant on skill points, allowing Bronya to effectively utilize her exceptional buffs.
Similar to the previous team composition, this lineup offers versatility for various types of content due to its mix of characters from different elements. Moreover, Fu Xuan can provide damage mitigation and some degree of healing, despite not being an Abundance character. This team composition becomes especially appealing for players interested in acquiring both characters in the 1.3 version update.
2 Imbibitor Lunae + Welt + Tingyun + Luocha
For those seeking a more Imaginary-focused team, one viable option is to deploy Welt and Luocha alongside Tingyun, who can potentially be replaced by Yukong if preferred, although Tingyun is more skill-point-friendly and complements Imbibitor Lunae well.
In this setup, thanks to Welt’s high Imprisonment chance, players can significantly benefit from equipping Imbibitor Lunae with the 4-piece set of “Wastelander of Banditry Desert,” as Welt enhances the consistency of debuffs and imprisonment.
Luocha emerges as the optimal choice for the healer role in this team. He offers valuable support by providing no-skill-point-required healing, debuffing enemies, buffing the team, and dealing Imaginary damage, making him a versatile addition to the lineup.
1 Imbibitor Lunae + Silver Wolf + Yukong + Luocha
Another exceptional Imaginary-focused team composition incorporates Silver Wolf alongside three Imaginary characters. Silver Wolf’s ability to implant a weakness on the enemy makes this team exceptionally versatile and suitable for various types of content. She also contributes to DEF reduction similar to Pela, further enhancing the team’s effectiveness. Consequently, players can expect to utilize this team effectively even when facing opponents without initial Imaginary weakness. However, it’s important to note that Silver Wolf might also implant Quantum weakness instead, which could require multiple uses of her skill unless the enemy already has Quantum weakness.
For players who lack access to Silver Wolf or face opponents with existing Imaginary weakness, substituting her with Pela or Welt can also be viable options to maintain an effective team composition.
