Upcoming PS5 And PS4 Games

2022 has concluded, and the year kept PlayStation owners busy. The year produced games like Elden Ring, Gran Turismo 7, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok, and Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, all titles that garnered critical acclaim.

The PlayStation 5 library is consistently expanding, and the best is presumably yet to come for Sony’s current console. In the meantime, the PlayStation 4 continues to receive love with cross-generation titles, so people who have yet to upgrade still have plenty to look forward to.

Which PS5 games are coming soon to shelves around the world? Which PS4 games are on the horizon? The upcoming calendar lists every announced PS5 and PS4 project, along with their North American release date if it has been announced.

Updated May 8, 2023: Over the last week, not too many upcoming PS5 games were announced, although there were a couple of reveals. The following games were added to the calendar: Nightmare Reaper, Warlander, Home Sheep Home: Farmageddon Party Edition, Convergence: A League of Legends Story, Super Mega Baseball 4, Fall of Porcupine, Skautfold: Usurper, Forspoken: In Tanta We Trust, F1 23, Weird West: Definitive Edition, Filthy Animals: Heist Simulator, Marvel’s Midnight Suns: Blood Storm, Operation Wolf Returns: First Mission VR.

PS5 & PS4 Games Coming Out In May 2023

ps5 games may 2023

May 2023 has a couple of noteworthy releases. Paradox Interactive’s Age of Wonders 4 has come out on consoles, following in the footsteps of 2019’s Planetfall. The franchise is well respected as a member of the 4X turn-based strategy genre, and while these titles tend to be synonymous with PC, Age of Wonders 4 does a decent job of adapting to the PS5’s control scheme.

Ys 9: Monstrum Nox is set to be ported to the PS5, granting owners a next-gen option if they would rather play that than the PS4 release. Anyone who prefers turn-based RPGs should keep an eye on Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2, especially since CyberConnect2’s first game garnered a positive reception. Amnesia: The Bunker is the next entry in Frictional Games’ first-person horror franchise, and the game takes place during World War 1.

Hogwarts Legacy has also been released on the PS4, a couple of months after enjoying a successful launch on the PS5. Star Trek: Resurgence and The Lord of the Rings – Gollum should also help cover the month’s sci-fi and fantasy quotas, and they both have attracted a fair amount of attention. Lastly, Lego 2K Drive is a kart racer that might prove to be a ton of fun, especially due to its customization potential.

PS5 & PS4 Games Coming Out In June 2023

june 2023 ps5 games

So far, June is shaping up to be the biggest month of 2023 in terms of releases. PlayStation 5 owners will have a few major AAA to select from, and they cover quite a few different genres, so there should be something for just about everyone. June will start with Street Fighter 6, and the next entry in Capcom’s fighting game franchise has been building up steam in recent months. While Street Fighter 5 garnered a somewhat mixed reception at launch, the title’s core gameplay was generally well-received; therefore, the sequel has very strong foundations to build on.

Just a few days after Street Fighter 6, Blizzard will launch Diablo 4, which will almost certainly be among the most popular action RPGs of 2023. The game’s open beta gave players a good idea of what to expect from the upcoming project. June 2023 should be, overall, an exciting month for the RPG genre. Besides Diablo 4, The Elder Scrolls Online will also release its next expansion, Necrom. The MMORPG has a good track record when it comes to DLC, and there is little to suggest that Necrom will ruin that trend. Last but not least, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 16 will also launch toward the end of June 2023, and the entry looks set to continue the JRPG series’ real-time action era.

PS5 & PS4 Games Coming Out In July 2023

july 2023 ps5 and ps4 games

While still fairly empty, July 2023 does contain a few exciting albeit niche releases. The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is the latest entry in Nihon Falcom’s JRPG series, although the game was released in Japan in 2020. The franchise is synonymous with quality writing and world-building, and the upcoming project should be no exception. A week later, Gust will be releasing a remake based on the first Atelier game. The license has come a long way since 1997, and while the original title is noteworthy in its own right, it is difficult to revisit in this day and age. Consequently, a remake is necessary.

After spending roughly a year in early access on PC, Ed-0: Zombie Uprising will be fully released. The survival roguelike has a fun concept (samurai/ninja/sumo versus hordes of the undead). So far, one of July 2023’s biggest PS5 releases is Exoprimal, Capcom’s online-driven shooter that pits players against massive armies of dinosaurs. That said, it should face stiff competition from EA’s Immortals of Aveum, a magic-based shooter that focuses on single-player.

July 7: The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie (PS5, PS4) July 13: Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg (PS5, PS4) July 13: Ed-0: Zombie Uprising (PS5) July 14: Exoprimal (PS5, PS4) July 20: Cross Tails (PS5, PS4) July 20: Immortals of Aveum (PS5) July 20: Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening (PS4)

Major Games In Development With A Post-2023 Debut Or No Release Year

ps5 and ps4 games wolverine beyond good and evil 2 death stranding 2

As games spend years in development, plenty of projects are known to be in the works but have yet to announce anything resembling a release year. While it is not completely out of the question that some of these titles could be released in 2023, the developers have not given any indication of that being the case.

Death Stranding 2, Slitterhead, Assassin’s Creed Infinity, and Beyond Good and Evil 2 are some of the biggest games in the works, all of which will attract plenty of attention once they debut. Most of these titles are presumably a few years away, although there is always a chance they could be announced in 2022. Some other massive titles are Kingdom Hearts 4, Grand Theft Auto 6, Judas, and The Elder Scrolls 6.

Rumored PS5 & PS4 Games

Kuja Smirking

Rumors should always be taken with a grain of salt; that said, speculating about what unrevealed titles are secretly in development for the PS5 can be a lot of fun. While nothing has been confirmed, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, Grand Theft Auto 6, and Marvel Spider-Man 2 are fairly safe bets.

With the PS5 picking up momentum, rumors have started making the rounds as people begin to speculate on what games they would love to see make an appearance on the console. Could these releases take the form of long-overdue sequels? Much needed remakes? Or could there be some new IP in the works that will become the new GTA?
