Major sandstorm in Egypt looms over Suez Canal

A major sandstorm, almost monstrous, hit Egypt’s Suez Canal on 1 June. 

The sky in Cairo had turned orange and people were asked to stay indoors as strong thick dust engulfed the Egyptian capital. 

The sandstorm brought down billboards, leading to the death of a person and five injured. 

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has advised people to wear face masks when stepping outdoors, especially those who suffer issues related to breathing.
