All Revealed at Meta Quest Gaming Showcase 2023


Meta is back with another VR showcase for 2023, and the first big announcement from the event is the reveal of the new Meta Quest 3 headset. The Quest 3 will retail from $499 this fall, with a price drop expected for the Quest 2.
Quest 3 specs will be revealed at a later date, but all games shown during the event will be compatible with the current lineup of Quest VR headsets. Additionally, games showcased during the event are scheduled to release later this year, with the caveat that unexpected delays may delay their releases a little further.
Samba de Amigo: Party CentralKicking off the showcase is a rhythm game from Sega that revisits a 1999 arcade classic. In Samba De Amigo: Party Central, players dance to a pair of maracas while hitting oncoming targets and posing to the beat of the music. . The game also features online gameplay so players can dance alongside their friends with custom avatars.
I Hope You Die 3: Gear in the MachineConfirmed for release on the Meta Quest Store in summer 2023, the third installment in the spy series I Expect You To Die 3: Cog in the Machine is packed with physics-based interactions in a comic spy-movie setting. Set in a dark futuristic arena reminiscent of ancient Rome’s gladiators, players will control massive mechs with brutal melee weapons as they face off against various monsters and other mech pilots in an arena.
The next evolution of the NFL PRO ERANFL wide receiver Andrew “Hawk” Hawkins joined the show to introduce “the next evolution of the NFL Pro Era”. Last year’s NFL-licensed VR football game is coming out with a major update that will expand the game’s roster, improve multiplayer, and introduce additional features and new modes. While the trailer is pre-rendered, it appears to be an in-engine trailer, so players can likely expect the gameplay to feature similar visuals and mechanics. The trailer only shows footage of the cityscape behind the wall, so it will be interesting to see if other environments such as the outer forest are utilized as well.
bulletstormPeople Can Fly’s classic skill shooter Bulletstorm is finally coming to VR later this year. The original Bulletstorm has been the target of VorpX VR mods in the past, but the official VR release is obviously much more refined. Players will also take on hordes of enemies and massive bosses in action-packed sequences, using an over-the-top arsenal of weapons, including the fan-favorite energy collar.
Assassin’s Creed: Nexus VR
Assassin’s Creed: Nexus VR has been confirmed for release later this year, though no trailer or further information was revealed during the event. For now, players can expect a more detailed announcement from Ubisoft on June 12th.
Wrath of Asgard 2A sequel to 2019’s Asgard’s Wrath on PC VR, the standalone sequel to Meta Quest will have players defend Loki’s forces using powerful magic weapons and melee weapons. There are plenty of puzzles to solve, mounts to ride, and gigantic bosses to fight. Players will explore vast open worlds in Norse realms such as Tierra del Fuego and the scorching deserts of ancient Egypt, battling gods and various mythical creatures.
