About the Role
Here at Babcock, we currently have an opportunity for a Fabricator to join our Fleet Engineering team.
You will carry out fabrication, welding and installation activities in support of constructive maintenance and defect rectification aboard vessels at HM Naval Base Clyde.
Specific responsibilities will include light to heavy fabrication, experience in burning, welding and drilling is required to work as part of a team carrying out various forms of fabrication task on board vessels and ashore.
You must be competent in operating power tools and workshop machinery. It is also important that you are comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and working over water.
The anticipated salary for this role will be £31,164 per annum.
What do I need to do the role?
You will be able to demonstrate significant previous experience of carrying out light and medium fabrication activities, ideally gained in an engineering environment. Previous experience of working with maintenance technical instructions and acceptance standards would be an advantage. Key areas of competency we require are as follows:
- SVQ Level 3 in Fabrication / completed Modern apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
- Experience of utilising Risk assessments, COSHH assessments, Safe Systems of Work, method statements.
- Attention to detail when undertaking fabrication tasks.
- Excellent team working and interpersonal skills.
What else do I need to know?
This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.
