Pokémon GO announces new event with debut of Legendary Pokémon

Pokémon GO has announced a new event that will serve as Zygarde’s debut. The Pokémon GO Pokédex continues to expand each season as Niantic brings new creatures to players. While the augmented reality game’s Pokedex isn’t complete yet, the game shows nearly 80% progress to date.

Of the nine generations of Pokémon games, Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Unova are the ones whose Pokedexes are already fully available in Pokémon GO. With this, players have a selection of monsters available as starters from all these regions, Legendaries like Raikou, Kyogre and Mewtwo, and even the Mythical Pokémon Shaymin. This year the game had even more debuts with the arrival of Turtonator, Mega Sableye and Mega Rayquaza in Pokémon GO.

Pokémon GO has announced the Blaze New Trails event starting on July 21 at 10:00 am and ending on July 24 at 8:00 pm local time. The highlight of this event is the debut of Legendary Zygarde, one of the strongest Gen 6 Pokémon. Zygarde will be available in the Special Research story From A to Zygarde in its 10% Forme, which is when the Pokémon assumes a form similar to that of a small dog. The event will also increase wild encounters for Growlithe, Ponyta, Doduo, Lillipup, Blitzle, and Yungoos, with Pokemon GO players able to find their Shiny variants. Players who hatch 7 km eggs can get Rockruff, Skwovet and Falinks, which will also have a brilliant chance.

The Blaze New Trails event also celebrates the introduction of Pokemon GO’s new Routes feature, bringing one of the classic mechanics from the main series to Niantic’s game. In doing so, the event encourages Pokemon GO players to share their favorite locations within their communities and discover other trainers’ favorite locations. In the Blaze New Trails event, players can earn Buddy Candy faster when exploring Routes with a Buddy and have a higher chance of finding Shiny Yungoos. While exploring Lanes, players can also collect Zygarde Cells to change Zygarde’s form.

The debut of Zygarde expands the list of Legendary and Mythical Pokémon available in Pokémon GO. The arrival of the Dragon/Ground type linked to the debut of Routes is a smart decision by Niantic, as it will serve as a potential incentive for Pokémon GO players to explore the new feature and have a new experience of playing Pokémon GO.

Pokémon GO is available for Android and iOS.
