Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Player is very lucky after starting Nuzlocke Run

Countless Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fans look for optional challenges to make games more difficult, and one fan gets the perfect start to his Nuzlocke run by finding a shiny one in one of the first areas of the game. The Nuzlocke challenge provides one of the most well-known ways of modifying Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s moves, with the challenge forcing players to limit their catches while also risking permanent death for their Pokémon.

The existence of the Nuzlocke challenge has persisted since some of the first Pokémon games in the franchise, and has been attempted by countless fans in every main series Pokémon game over the years. The challenge’s original concept featured just two simple rules: only the first wild Pokémon encountered in each area can be captured, without exception, and a Pokémon fainting is treated as its permanent death. The fainted Pokémon cannot be resurrected by any means and must be released by the player. Fans have since remixed the Nuzlocke challenge, adding various difficulties and optional challenges, such as the condition of a lost battle resulting in a complete game over.

Each Nuzlocke run is unique, and while the challenge adds a substantial amount of extra difficulty and punishment to games, chance encounters with shiny Pokemon always spice things up even more. This was exactly the case for one very lucky player known as Firedarkness1101 on Reddit, who posted a clip to the site showing his encounter with a glowing Tarountula shortly after starting to play with Nuzlocke Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This rare Pokémon was found along the Poco Path, one of the first areas in the game and the place where players can capture wild Pokémon for the first time.

Shiny Pokemon themselves have grown to become a key part of the franchise since they were introduced in the Gen 2 titles, and Shiny hunting seems to be a more popular activity in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet than ever before. These incredibly rare Pokémon are distinguished by nothing more than their color, with a Pokémon’s Shiny variant having a different body color than the rest of the species. With a base spawn chance of 1 in 4096, it’s no wonder these rare Pokemon variants are hard to find, though Scarlet and Violet introduce strategies that increase the chances of finding a shiny.

While the many shortcomings of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet may not make them the most popular games in the franchise, the Gen 9 titles still have some content to offer. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC is set to release in the form of two different expansions, and while they’re still a bit far from release, they promise to introduce a bunch of content in the forms of new Pokemon, campaign content and much more.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available on Nintendo Switch.
