Russian man almost dies while implanting a chip in his brain

By India Today News Desk: A 40-year-old Russian man had a close encounter with death due to excessive bleeding when he tried to perform brain surgery on himself using a handheld drill.
Mikhail Raduga, a resident of Russia’s Novosibirsk region, tried to perform complex neuro surgery on himself to install a microchip in his brain in order to control his dreams, as reported by Russia Today.

Mikhail Raduga got the idea to install the electrode in his brain over a year ago and chose himself as a test subject for his experiments, the report stated.
Initially, Raduga thought of taking the help of neurosurgeons for the complex surgery but later dropped the idea due to many reasons, including the criminal liability of neurosurgeons.
Mikhail Raduga also shared the images of his attempt on Twitter.
Sharing graphic pictures of a microchip in his brain, Raduga said, “For the first time in history, we conducted direct electrical stimulation of the motor cortex of the brain during REM sleep, lucid dreams, and sleep paralysis.”

While speaking to RT, Raduga said that he carried out the operation on May 17 after watching several hours-long YouTube videos on neurosurgery to understand how neurosurgeons work.
However, due to a complete lack of surgical experience, he reportedly lost nearly a litre of blood during the four-hour complex surgery and nearly lost his life. Later, he was shifted to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

“Do not repeat! It’s much harder and more dangerous than you might imagine. A four-hour video of the operation clearly demonstrates this,” he was quoted as saying by RT.
