szimple All-In-One Media Centre Launches

A new fully featured all-in-one media centre has been launched via Kickstarter this week in the form of the szimple, which is looking to raise €150,000 over the next 44 days.

Watch the video below to learn more about the features of this tiny set-top box which offers a powerful multimedia centre with its own custom-designed user interface.
Pledges for szimple start at €100 which provide the complete package including the set-top box, remote control and even a HDMI cable to get you up and running straightaway. Its designers explained more about the inspiration, features and functionality you can expect to enjoy once you’ve plugged in the szimple media centre.

Love watching movies and shows in your TV? Beautify your library! szimple is a powerful multimedia center with a great UI. All-in-one means we have built-in the server and client all together in the same device. Therefore, the big difference with Apple TV is that we do not need to stream your content from the server (Mac, iPhone…) to the client (Apple TV connected to your TV ) using your network. Netflix and Roku in the other hand, do not let you play your owned media files, you have to pay a monthly fee and stream from their main servers (better have a good internet connection available) to view content.

Just put you media files in a USB drive (avi, mov, mp4, mkv we read everything) and plug it into szimple, it will crawl through your content and find meta information related (posters, trailers, summary, genre, subtitles…)

szimple is really easy to use and does not require any configuration (just plug and play), it does all the hard work for you. Similar services like Plex or XBMC need complex server/client setups plus internet connection. szimple is an all-in-one device, hosting both server and client. How can this be possible? By solving the complex file-naming problem (don’t bother renaming your files or setting a fixed folder structure) and simplifying the architecture-device setup.
