The pace of sea level rise has doubled all over the world, a big threat to these countries… UN’s frightening report

The sea level is rising twice as fast all over the world. This warning has been given by the United Nations. Between 2013 and 2022, the water level has increased twice as fast as between 1993 and 2002. Last year it had reached a record high. There is also a warning that by the end of this century it may increase at the same rate or more.

The United Nations agency World Meteorological Organization (WMO) told that the main reason for this is the increasing temperature. Due to which the glaciers are melting. The ocean heat is increasing. Due to which the water is spreading. Between 2013 and 2022, sea level has increased at a rate of 4.62 mm every year. This is double the speed from 1993 to 2002.

WMO Secretary-General Peteri Talas said that the melting of glaciers and rapid rise of sea level is a very dangerous process. The reason for this is the release of greenhouse gases in large quantities. The rise in water level will continue to happen in this century. Even after this, the sea level will continue to rise for the next thousands of years.

Islands like Tuvalu are most at risk. Due to the rise in sea level, such islands will disappear from the world map. The ice of Antarctica has melted very fast in June and July last year. The sea heatwave was 58 percent more than the land. Due to which the ice in the polar regions is melting rapidly.

Last year, 15,000 people died in Europe due to heatwave. Talas told that such dangerous bad weather conditions will remain till 2060. If the emissions are not reduced then the situation is going to be very bad. Although it can still be improved. So that the coming human generations do not face any kind of problem.
