Watch: Baby trapped inside car in Texas saved by smashing windows

By India Today World Desk: A video showing the rescue of a baby who was left inside a searing hot car has gone viral. Filmed by a bystander, the video captures the moment a crowd gathers around a car in Texas’ Harlingen city and smash the windscreen to free the crying baby.

After several attempts, the windscreen is finally shattered, allowing a man to gain access to the car. A man is then seen lifting the baby to safety outside the vehicle.
The incident occurred in the parking lot of a supermarket in Harlingen, according to a report by the New York Post. The temperature on that day, as reported by Fox News, had a heat index of more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit (around 38º Celsius). The heat index indicates what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air temperature.
It is not clear how long the child was trapped inside the car before being rescued. It has been reported that the family accidentally left the keys in the vehicle, leading to the lockout.
The video has garnered widespread attention and till the time of writing this article, garnered 1.4 million views on Instagram.
