World of Warcraft Reveals New Prime Gaming Reward

Highlights World of Warcraft players subscribed to Amazon’s Prime Gaming service can now add the Silver Pig companion pet to their collection until August 24. The Silver Pig was previously available as a Recruit-a-Friend reward and only became available through promotions in Asia during the Burning Crusade expansion. The promotion allows players to link their Battle.net and Amazon Prime accounts to claim the Silver Pig pet, and more cosmetic rewards are expected to come from Prime Gaming in the future.

Starting today, World of Warcraft is giving players that are also subscribed to Amazon’s Prime Gaming service the chance to add the Silver Pig companion pet to their collection. The latest World of Warcraft promotion with Prime Gaming runs until August 24, and the pet is only available in the retail version of Blizzard’s long-running MMORPG.

The Silver Pig was previously available as a Recruit-a-Friend reward during the Mists of Pandaria expansion. Before that, the Silver Pig was only available via promotions in Asia during the Burning Crusade expansion. The return of the Silver Pig in World of Warcraft comes just two days after the reveal of the Pet Pack for Ukraine, where 100% of all purchases made until August 29 will go directly to BlueCheck Ukraine. Between these two promotions, World of Warcraft’s pet collectors will have plenty of content to sink their time into.

The Silver Pig is just one of the rewards that World of Warcraft and Prime Gaming will continue to offer throughout the year. However, to claim the Silver Pig for themselves, World of Warcraft players will have to link their Battle.net and Amazon Prime accounts together by logging into Twitch and navigating to the Settings menu. From there, users can log into their Battle.net account and then navigate to the Prime Gaming rewards page to claim their Silver Pig pet. The offer also extends to World of Warcraft players that are on a free trial for Amazon Prime. However, Prime Gaming rewards are not available in Wrath of the Lich King Classic.

Earlier in the month, World of Warcraft players were able to claim the Silver Shorestrider mount via Prime Gaming. This rare bird mount was previously available from the World of Warcraft TCG’s Wasteland Tallstrider card. This loot card contained a code that could be redeemed in-game by speaking to Landro Longshot in Booty Bay. Since the WoW TCG has been out of print for years, loot cards have become a hot commodity among collectors, with some going for hundreds of dollars.

While some World of Warcraft players remain unenthusiastic about having to subscribe to Prime Gaming in addition to their recurring WoW sub, some said that the promotion is a great way for more players to have easier access to some cosmetic rewards. But, with more content to come in World of Warcraft’s upcoming patches, it remains to be seen what other cosmetic rewards will come next from Prime Gaming.

World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
